Reading Time: 2 minutes I was a registration manager for the New Music Seminar in New York City. Long before American Idol and The Voice, The New Music Seminar was the premiere showcase convention where up and coming musicians, songwriters, and various artists would be given a huge platform to showcase their stuff and possibly get themselves a recording deal. The year; 1993.
Reading Time: 2 minutes When working in Nashville and anywhere else in the music business, one name that always comes up when speaking of vocal coaching is Brett Manning. He has trained many well-known music artists including Taylor Swift, Hayley Williams (Paramore), Keith Urban, Leona Lewis, Poppy, Luke Bryan, John Michael Montgomery, Lauren Mayberry, Miley Cyrus, TJ Harris, Wes Hampton, and Rob Chapman; just to name a few. Brett has also coached several Grammy and CMA Award winners, as well as recent Broadway casts of Les Misérables, Jekyll & Hyde, and Elton John’s Aida.
Reading Time: < 1 minute The year; 1993. The location: The Palladium in New York City. I was one of the managers with the New Music Seminar. This particular night, I was working the Palladium where several now bigtime artists were performing and showcasing. The big event was handling one of the hottest new performance groups around. Their stage setup was one of the most elaborate I had seen to date.
Reading Time: 2 minutes The year; 2007. In all, there were sixteen of us at a recording studio in Ossining, New York. A brand new state of the art masterpiece of a studio that would wow just about any mainstream recording artist. I was invited through a friend to attend a Mix Magazine (the magazine for the recording industry) photoshoot and eventual cover story for this beautiful facility.
